Auto problems

Hi

I have some trouble with my 1992 Honda Civic 1.5lsi... my auto box is kinda jerky. There's a jerk and a slight thud going from 1-2 and then the engine revs up a bit while changing from 2-3.

Is there anything that I can do to save me forking out for a new gearbox?
