Post subject: Apartment living and auto repair don't go together Get Alert

I live in an apartment lot that does not allow us to work on our cars in the parking lot (they say it makes the place look low-rent.) I'm sure I'm not the first person to encounter this dilemma. I'm just wondering if any apartment dwellers out there have found a (legal) solution. I don't have any friends I could mooch some space from. There aren't any abandoned lots around here and I'm sure the cops would hassle me for that. What can I do?
Is there such a thing as a rent-a-garage-for-a-day?
Thanks,
apchar
