| Cars today way more than they did in '68, and they have far too much
power! Who needs a 250 horsepower sedan? Louis and Clark only had 1
horsepower, and they crossed the USA!
I wish that cars had all less than 150 horsepowers, and they weiged
less than 3300 lbs. These would be great laws to start off with.

I wish that more people would mind their own damn business. If you want
to buy a car that weights 3000 lbs and has 100 horsepower you go right
ahead, no one is stopping you. You should have the same respect for the
rights of people who want to buy bigger, more powerful cars.
Also, did you ever stop to think about WHY cars WEIGH more than they did
in 1968? It isn't because the automakers wanted to add a bunch of road
hugging weight, a big part of it is equipment required by the
government. In spite of that extra weight and power the average new car
gets much better gas mileage and requires less maintenance than the
average new car in 1968.

Cars do *not* weigh more now.
Billions have been spent to lighten cars as much as possible to meet
CAFE standards
