Do Americans know that the Chevrolet trucks that you (The Colorado,
for example) sell in Thailand are all built with Isuzu transmissions
and use component parts from Korea and Mainland China, for example?
How can you even call it a Chevrolet truck when nothing about it-
except the body design, is American?

Of course not. I was interested to see while in Thailand last month,
though, that the extended cabs did not have rear doors.

The Equinox has a Chinese built motor (they do not tell you that either)
Detroit wants you to have the mind set that if it has a Detroit brand
name then you are buying American even if over half of it is made
overseas. You can blame labor for some of this in that is has gotten so
expensive that GM outsources just to try to stay in the game. Most
Toyota's sold here are built in US and many of them have more parts that
are made here than many Detroit products but they are still called
imports while Detroit cars are not. Foreign car makers in US have not
had to deal with UAW labor contracts and the wastes in them so they are
able to build more parts here and spend more time building them too.
