Yes, he does. However, I still can't help but think what would've happened
last night if instead of Tony Shoe on the line it were a Mike Strasburg or a
Scott Palmer or any other independent team not in a drama filled, mega TV
rating producing points battle. Methinks they'd have been bounced from the
grounds like a sportsman racer for disregarding a track official.
I'll let it be known (and this is coming from someone who has considered
himself a Tony Shoe fan since 99) that my personal opinion is the way that
whole leak fiasco from last night is being handled is a complete and total
joke, as is the fine. If you want to penalize the team, take points away.
Tony Shoe and the guys wipe their butts with more than $20,000. Either make
the penalty real, or take the regular NHRA route and say nothing, but don't
make a joke out of it by creating a penalty that isn't even a penalty. It's
not like Tony's got to pay that deal out of his pocket, and somehow I
seriously doubt that team's operating budget is going to really miss $20k,
especially at the END of the freaking season.
But, all that being said, laying down a record in the fashion they did
tonight deserves much respect from a performance standpoint.

I now know what those folks who have their ball team lose in the World
Series feels like. I was so bummed that Kalitta lost the championship
like that. It was in their hands and Dougie was capable of turning the
high numbers but...
Also gotta admit without being a sore loser that such a mild penalty
for blantantly disregarding an official's command certainky wouldn't
have happened in NASCAR. Imagine Jeff Gordon ignoring a black flag....
