Post subject: Alternator / battery trouble

Can a faulty alternator cause a battery drain? The alternator seems to be putting out 14VDC, but could there be a short in it?

Trouble trying to reverse - I have a 1995 ram 1500 automatic (5.9, 360 v8) that refuses to go into reverse when I put it into gear, until I give it a little gas, and then it slams into gear. My fluid level is good--I'm wondering if anybody has any advice or possible diagnosis?

Damn dodge alternator - I had to replace mine today. It only lasted for 14 years / 281,000 miles. The bearings still felt good. I think the brushes went. They don't build them like they used to. 8>) beekeep

engine trouble codes - Does anyone know the check engine codes for a 2002 dodge ram 1500 2dr. slt truck? My check engine light came on after a recent fuel fill up, i check the code P1491 emission control at auto zone. I would hate to take it to the dealer and pay them to tell....
