Does Bridge have anything that will show you photos in more than one
folder at once? Sort of like a search subfolders setting or something?
It is getting really annoying to go back through YYYY_MM_DD (the way
my camera downloads them) folders to find old stuff. I was thinking
about Picasa or something but that seems like you lose control and have
config files everywhere.

Does anyone have any best practices or something?

Following their acquisition of Jasc, Adobe has brought out Paint Shop Photo Album 6. One
of its finctions is cataloging the photos on your computer. You could download the
program for a free trial and see if it does that job the way you want.

If you buy, or upgrade to, Paint Shop Pro X, PS Photo Album is included on the
installation CD.
