Post subject: Adding Lubricity to Diesel Fuel
Archived from groups: alt>autos>dodge>trucks (more info?)

I have a 2001 Dodge CTD 2500 and a friend and his son also have similar
vehicles (different years, but 24 Valve).

I have been adding abouT 5% biodiesel to my (low sulfur) fuel for
lubricity. My friend's son said he adds ATF for lubricity. Seems like
ATF is much more expensive, but how much do you need?

Also, is there a value in adding a small amount of gasoline during
winter to prevent gelling? I saw a post where a fellow put in about 1.5
gal of gas before realizing his mistake, then filled up with diesel.
Responders said not a big deal, they do that all the time.

Comments welcome!

Thanks,

Charles

Thanks for advice on lubricity and diesel fuel - It seems gasoline is not good for reducing gelling and bad for lubricity. Biodiesel can increase gell point. I think I will test a sample in the freezer. Kerosene (#1 diesel) lowers gel point and increases lubricity. Not sure how much to add, though! ....

New Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel in 2007 - Does anyone have any information about how this new Ultra Low Sulfur diesel that will be at the pumps starting very soon will impact the diesels, like mine (2004 Ram 2500 CRD). I may not have a good grasp on fuel but it is my understanding the the sulfu...

Can I use Diesel fuel in my home heating system. - Hello Everyone, I really can't spare the $500+ that it would cost to get the heating oil company to come out and pump 150 gallons of heating oil. Can I use Diesel fuel from a gas station instead as home heating oil? They have the low-sulfur fuel in...

Adding Heated Seats - Not sure if this is possible, but I would like to add heated seats to my truck. It's a 2006 Power Wagon, but it's pretty much an SLT interior with cloth seats. They didn't order the heated seats and I am not sure whether that was because they were..
