Well, yeah, they'll drain your battery. How much depends on how long you
use them. Use them with the engine running or, barring that, stop using
them every once in a while and run the engine to charge the battery.

i had a 300 watt in my 87 CRX HF and 2k Daewoo Lanos and neither one had an
issue with it. i always ran it when the car was actually on... i never ran
it off the cars battery alone. if your battery is good, i dont forsee an
issue. HTH!

Some have a safety feature and will shut off prior to draining the
battery....

I take it the battery drain is only a problem if you are running _without_
the car on?

AFAIK, yes. i always ran mine with the car on and never had an issue with
it.
