I have a 1999 Honda Civic LX 4dr with 199,900 miles. Two things: First, and most worrisome, occasionally when I accelerate there is a metalling rattling noise coming from under the hood. Imagine a single coffee bean in a grinder - that's the closest thing I can think of to compare it to. It's i..

I have a 99 honda civic with a d16Y8 sohc engine with vtec (its actually an acura 1.6 el, but for simplicitys sake, we'll call it a civic since its the same thing). and I have milky tanwhite colour stuff (gunk i guess), in the head (under the valve cover). This is a symptom of a head gasket ..

Hi all, I was looking at a dealership for a used car and I saw a 1999 Honda Civic Sedan EX with 135,000 Km for $11,000 CDN. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a decent price (if it's mechanically sound). Also, I did some research online and found that the EX has a moonroof and CD player, ..

I have a 99 Honda Civic with just under 90K miles on it that won't start. This first happened on Sunday morning - it started fine but when it reached idling speed, it quickly died. Ran for 1-2 seconds at the most. Now it doesn't start at all, and when I turn the key it sounds like the starter i..

Hey guys it's winter here in Canada and when it's cold or even below zero my 99 Civic likes to idle low (so low that it shakes and the lights dim alot unless I pump her some gas). A few times it's even stalled on me... This happens after driving for 10 to 15 minutes even... it's fine from start. ..
« as i told a guy earlier its cause u may wanna leave it running for awhile cause it is prob frozen in some parts or really freaking cold that the engine is just soo cold it will do that....maybe try .. »
« If you have been using your car for over 10,000 km's do not use synthetic oil! Contains too many detergents and will harm your engine! Maybe it is time for a tune up? Where in canada do you live? »
« Oops. Put synthetic in mine at 250,000kms. Still purring at 293,000, in Ottawa's harsh climate. »
« The concern with the high detergency of synthetic oil comes from the risk of seals leaking if they have hardened and are depending on deposits to complete the seal. Normally this is in cars over 1.. »
