Post subject: 99 Blazer temp sender

4.3 Vortec, my indicated engine temp has been steadily dropping for
several months now. Is this a normal failure mode for the sender? Where
is the sender on this engine?

Not really, it is an indication that the sensor may have a bunch of crud
built up on it or that there is a connection problem.

Sender is in the left head between the rear cylinders.

I would attempt to make sure that the sender is not lying to you-in
other words, from my experience the sender my be doing its job
(reporting correctly) and possibly a thermostat is in your future.
These senders rarely fail.(but they can-need to verify temperature)

Id start this a thermostat , a 195 F ...if its more than a few years old ,
id change it anyways
how much heat do you get out of the heater vents when turning it to hot ?

Thanx to all that read or replied. It was the the T-stat. Hardest part
of replacing that was praying the plastic radiator drain valve didn't
snap off Smile
