My 98 Accord V6 automatic has 70,000 miles. I'm the original owner, and have done all recommended services visits at the dealer that sold me the car, so you would think transmission fluid has been properly changed, etc. The car has never been abused or driven hard - mostly to work and back (18 easy miles round trip).
My transmission has been acting strange and is getting worse. It feels like I am pressing the brake when I take off, even on a flat surface. This is especially true in reverse - it barely wants to move. Today I parked in a driveway that sloped downhill about 15 degrees. When I tried to back out I had to rev the engine to 2000 rpm just to get moving!
I have noticed some other transmission related things but don't know if they are related or not - Often when putting it into gear there is a noticeable (but not alarming) clunk. This happened today when shifting from P to R before backing out of the driveway... and was the worst clunk so far. Also, it felt pretty rough shifting from D to P when I parked it, too.
Clunk also occurs going from R to D and D to R. In addition, sometimes I feel the transmission slip when slowing way down then speeding up again (like when slowing for a traffic light that turns green at the last minute.) It feels like it spins in neutral for a second as I press the gas, then pops roughly into gear.
I've read several posts about transmission problems in this forum, but have not seen anything quite like this. Any comments would be most appreciated. Thank You!
