In the last week I have had problem with my car just stopping. I was driving and the engine died. Would not start, 5 minutes later it was fine for a week. Tuesday night I am driving home I just turrn in to my apartment complex and the engine dies. 5 minute later, after pushing it into a parking stall, it starts. Wed I drive the car about 3 miles pull into a parking space and it stalls out 10 minutes later it runs about a half mile and dies. Won't start sputters a little but won't turn over. Change out the fuel filter and the car started and ran fine for about 10 minutes. (I had borrowed a car so I went to return it and when I got back the car started and went about 100 yards and died.
I read the repair manual and it said to check if the fuel pump was working. I can hear the pump turn on when I turn on the key. It then said check the relay by switching it with the EEC relay and the car ran for about a 1/2 mile and stopped. Replaced the relay and it ran for about 1/2 mile and died. It will sputter a little but won't turn over.
My assumption is that the fuel pump is going (or gone) or I have a clogged fuel line. Changing the pump requires dropping the tank since it is an in-line, beyond my abilities and tools, or checking the lines, HOW?
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
