Lexus dealer replaced my front brake pads and remarked that the front rocker
arm bushings were completely worn down. I have not noticed any symptoms of
this. In fact, last year we were advised that our 95 Accord LX had the same
problem. We have done nothing with it and have had no symptoms or problems.
I am beginning to wonder if this is a scam among car dealers/service
facilities.

Anyone had a similar scenario?

Stu

Are you sure the dealer is not talking about control arm bushings? The
rocker arms are under the valve cover and are not visible unless the valve
covers are removed.

Worn control arm bushings can cause squeak or rattle noises and could cause
front alignment problems.

Something wrong here. Rocker arms are part of some cars engines valve gear. The Lexus GS 300 uses
over head cams which act directly upon the valves, ther are no rocker arms on the Lexus GS 300. If
the dealer is talking about the suspension control arms just strongly move the top of the tires in
and out if there is any play, free movement they may be worn, any competent mechanic can easily
check them for you.
