Visiting daughter-in-law, trying to fix air conditioning-heater blower
on her 98
Ford Contour. Replaced switch, have current to the motor, but it still
don't run. Fuses okay. Is there a relay for the blower (she's lost
her owner's manual, and can't find a Chilton manual anywhere in town)?
How do you R&R the blower motor?

The switch is on the ground side of the blower (therefore, there should be
power to the motor)...... switch and pigtail were common concerns on
Contour.... I recall a customer satsfaction program involving blower switch
and pigtail on some model year Contours... check your local dealer to see if
this car is affected...

It's not a pigtail, it's a resistor just to the left of the blower motor in
the duct. Has two screws holding it in and about 4 wires on it. If you
remove it you may see a bunch of burnt up insulation a dead give away that
it's bad.

It's a known problem with those cars and Ford may still have a customer
satisfaction program on it. Call your dealer with the VIN number to check.
