Jeff, I called the 1-800-392-3673 Ford Vehicle Recall Hotline and
there is not a current recall on the 97 Ford Ranger model per my VIN
number. Also, I would like to validate how to install the Fan Blower
resistor module for this 97 Ford Ranger.
I also learned that via the 800 number above you can tell if your car/
truck has been "marked" meaning that it was in zip codes of the New
Orleans, Katrina flood or any other type of previous damages due to a
specific set of circumstances. My Ranger is ok; all fronts.
All Ford Ranger mechanics please correct me if I have this incorrect.
There is a 'wire' leading to the fan blower resistor module located on
the outside of the fan motor/blower assembly (located under the hood;
somewhere near firewall). All it takes is two screws to disconnect
this module; and replace the module; reattach the lead wire. If this
is incorrect please send a followup post to correct the fan resistor
module replacement procedure to use.
Regards,
