| No trouble lights so far , but the alternator is making a lot of noise
(roaring) and i can feel vibration from it. What'ya think the problem
is? bearing, brushes?? total replace or what? cost of rebuilt one?

its not the alternator it tested ok

maybe serpentine belt tensioner.
I think I have started replacing those in the VR6 and 2.0 engines.

Any time a rotating item makes a roaring noise, you know the bearings
are in trouble. It'll test fine.
Also, check to make sure you don't have the belt too tight -- that'll

What? i replaced the alternator 4 days ago and yesterday the starter
went up. i replaced it. thats $200 + $150 in four days for parts. i
saw another post that the same thing happened to another guy. isnt it
funny that both would die at the same time?? why is that??

Jetta Alternator removal - 99 Jetta 2.0 Trying to remove the alternator to check the voltage regulator brush. I removed both mounting bolts on the alternator per Haynes manual, but the thing won't budge. It's stuck, like I missed a bolt or something...but I don't see anything...
98 Jetta Alternator Belt Removal - I need to replace the main serpentine belt that drives the alternator and A/C unit. According to the VW manual on CD, all that is required is to somehow twist the tensioning pulley with no other work required. Is this correct? If so, how do you adjust....
