97 Acura 2.2 CL smokin' under the hood...

I'll make this short as I can. A friend of mine changed my oil recently. He may have forgotten to put the oil cap back on my engine. I drove the car for a few days and noticed a little bit of smoke coming out from under my hood. I figured maybe I was just burning excess oil off. Today my car completely dies at a stop light and just before it does it acts like the battery is dead and a huge puff of smoke comes billowing out from under my hood. Could this be because my dumb friend didn't replace the oil cap? The battery is dead now from keeping the hazard lights on so long while waiting on a tow. I'm about to jump the battery to see if I can even get it started. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
