I have a 96' Jetta Trek. A couple of months ago, I clipped a deer, going
about 35. Dented my fender, but everything else seemed fine. Car drove
straight and ran fine. Then, all of a sudden, tranny quit going into
drive. I can rev the engine, and it will drop into 1st, then drives and
shifts fine until I take it out of gear. Then have to repeat the process
to get it to go again. The car goes fine into reverse. Does anyone have
any ideas?

Coincidence?

Some deer pieces went under and bent part of the linkage (seems unlikely
since it didn't happen right away).

Ditto, but caused a small leak. Check fluid.

Dino, the deer's big brother, decided to pay youz a visit and let youz
know your behaviour was unacceptable.
