Have a look at this page, from an excellent source (browse the whole

I changed both my thermostat and radiator fan thermostat on my C900
for the reason you write about, and haven't seen the temperature go
above mid range since!

Highly recommend this mod to keep the block/gasket and other component
temps down to a reasonable level.
