I just bought this old beauty. Brought it home and it started spuing
antifreeze from what I think is the overflow. I'm not to sure if this
is the overflow. Where do you put the antifreeze? I can't find pics or
specs about this car anywhere.

Please help!

Thanks

Was it spewing when it was hot? How far was the drive home. How long has the
car been running before it spews. How long did you let the car run, or how
long did you drive it around before you bought it. I hope it was more then
just around the block, or 5 or 10 minutes. I hope the previous owners just
topped off the tank when it was cold and there's just an excess of
antifreeze in it. It goes in the white plastic tank on top of the motor,
right rear. with antifreeze in it. and a rubber hose with antifreeze running
out of a little hole inside the cap. It has a hot or cold fill level line
on it. I hope its the same one its spewing out of. You need to see if it
stops spewing before you add more while its hot. If it keeps spewing out
while you're driving... its maybe a headgasket. If it don't .... your ok ,
it was overfilled. My worst fear is its an headgasket, and that's why they
sold it. Welcome to everyone's private little hell . VWs. Glad you made it.

And did you hear the radiator fans coming on? If not then it may have just
gotten a little too hot and kicked some coolant out.
Radiator cap might be defective, or have a misaligned seal, and needs
attention.

Join the passat mailing list too! congrats!
