I've got the northstar engine. It seems to use about 1 qt every month or
two which seems high for a GM car. I know my old GMC350 truck doesn't
use anywhere near this much! I'm running mobile 1 synthic 5w30. Is this
standard for overhead cam engines. Seems my lincoln which was Overhead
cam had a similar usage of oil. Neither show signs of any leaks. So I
assume I'm blowing by the rings or something and burning it. The car
runs fine no smoke 110k Miles. - Thanks in advance!

IMHO 5 - 30 oil is too thin for most engines, more so for engines above
100K miles. That's not to say jump to SAE 50, but 20 -40 (or 20-50 in
the summer) may be more appropriate. It all costs the same so why not
try it.
