89 900i strange problem

Post subject: 89 900i strange problem
Archived from groups: alt>autos>saab (more info?)

CISK Jetronic, 2 litre with Hall effect ignition.

Symptoms.
Loss of power and misfire after 20 miles having rested overnight.
After initial loss, resting the car for 5 minutes will yield return of power
for another mile or two before symptoms return.

Remedies already tried and things fixed.
Fuel line and filter, changed.
Ignition coil swapped
Checked for water in tank
Checked ground connections and cables
Cleaned air cleaner
Checked fuel pump delivery
Control main voltage appears OK
Gapped plugs


Any suggestions most welcome either to group or directly to this email address.

Hall effect pickup in distributor. Seen it twice.

Thanks for the try, it could have been that but turned out to be a failing
fuel pump. For some reason it would not maintain pressure at the injection
block. A change out for a spare fixed the problem. In the process we learned
an awful lot and fixed stuff that may have become a problem in the future.
