| Had the windshield replaced several years ago and have had recurring problem with leaks since then. Volvo auto body shop recommended a different glass specialist who advised I replace the windshield with post 1992 version, fixed moldings, etc. I'd rather maintain the original look of the '89 with chrome reveal if possible. Looking for some feedback and advice. Thanks so much!

Install new style windshield it looks much better & less problems with
the clips that hold down the chrome trim around glass & iirc the part #
for the windshield changes to the new style

The official count is 343, but there was also a volunteer who lost his life
aiding in the initial rescue efforts. And I will never forget them as

nor should any American. >> Stay informed about: 89 240 windshield leak |

I've always thought the new style windshield looked a lot nicer, not to
mention it produces less wind noise. If you'd like to retain the old
style though it should still work, is there any body rust around the
glass? Sometimes the ridge it sits in gets pitted and then water leaks. >> Stay informed about: 89 240 windshield leak |

how difficult is it to replace the windshield on an '89 240 wagon? Mine is
pitted so badly that it's really hard to see clearly when driving into the
sun! I've been thinking of replacing it if not too expensive or difficult...

Thanks for your reply Glenn. Also, the Volvo shop recommends using Volvo glass, the glass specialist recommends using aftermarket. Other than cost do you have an opinion on this? Does the new windshield design, ie trim and tint, vary between the Volvo and the aftermarket windshield? Thanks Glenn. >> Stay informed about: 89 240 windshield leak |

Thanks James. When this current windshield was installed several years ago there was no rust problem but I don't know if rust has developed in the interim. I guess the wisest thing is to go with the new design.
