Hi

I have just bought a new 58 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi Zetec 5 Dr Hatch and are
wondering where various bits are

1. How is the big plastic engine cover at the top removed, does it just pull
off

2. Where is the oil filter and is it a cartridge or an element one

3 Where is the fuel filter

I am just interested about the car having owned two previous ones. I
obviously have no need to do any work or servicing, but am interested in all
technical aspects of the car and engine. I have been unable to find very
little by "googling", so any info or links would be appreciated.

Finally I am very pleased with the car, the last one was a 1.8 TDCi and the
bigger engine is brilliant and seems to be equal mpg wise.

Please reply to group.

Thanks - Mike

Yeah, just pulls off. Its mounted on three spigots. You need to give it
a good tug.

Right side of engine, under air filter. Cartridge type.

Its a cracking engine, bags of torque where you need it.

I get 43mpg @ 90+mph, 52mpg @ 60mph and I managed to see 60mpg once when
driving like a nun.

As the man said.... a sharp tug upwards to get the plastic cover off. Dunno
its purpose... probably (being none PC) for women buyers who dont like to
see a lot of gubbins!...or could be sound absorption!

My 07 is a replacable paper element...and unfortunately is situated round
the back of the engine (just like a ford KA!), hence the reason I leave my
none ford service garage to do that job with me buying the parts. Dont
forget to use only formula E oil... its very runny but very important to use
that grade.

Not sure about the fuel filter.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Have now removed the big plastic cover as advised and can say the following:

The oil filter is a element one and is located at the front of the engine
above the right of the alternator, just left of the centre of the engine.

The fuel filter is a strange looking (and expensive looking one), it is
located at the top LH corner of the engine directly above the alternator.
Not only does it have fuel pipes to it, it also has an electrical sensor
located in it.

The fuel pump for the common rail is located at the RH side of the engine,
above the flywheel and is driven off the farthest back cam, this is the one
that is driven by the cam belt at the LH (pulley end) of the engine.

Thanks you for your replies and hope my observations are of interest to you.

Mike
