If the 400 is a good tranny, it might be a lot less hassle to have the
driveshaft shortened and just use it. That's a pretty tought tranny in
my experience. You didn't mention whether your truck is 2x4 or 4x4 so
I'll assume since you're posting in a hotrod group it's a 2 wheel drive
truck.
I also agree with Eugene that the 400 converter might not be playing
well with the 350 trans. TH350 and TH400 are not the same animal, even
if the input shaft & bell housing might look the same.
