Have a situation where rear screen washer works fine but front does not.
Can't hear a motor running as with rear.
Poked around and found washer bottle with what appears to be a single pump.
How does that work ( or not in my case!)
Have I missed something?
Cheers

Not familiar with the 206 but other cars I have with a single pump
revers the direction of the rotor at the stalk switch and a valve in the
pump send the water to the right pipe. Have you got two pipe coming out
of your pump? If not then you still need to find the rear pump. I assume
only a single tank? (My pug 405 has two tanks & two pumps)

It's a bit cramped around the washer tank but I'm fairly sure there's only
one pump.
Found two pipes but it has all been done by feel even though I found the
trap door in the wheel arch liner.
Assuming you are right, (it makes sense) then I have a wiring/switching
problem by the looks of it.
I say that as the pump doesn't run when the front washer is selected.
Thanks for your input.

It helps if you use the right switch!
It's my wife's car and the stalk seemed to indicate rotate clockwise for
front screen wash.
Wrong!
You pull it towards you.
Works a treat then.
Bet you all knew that.
Thanks for all attempts to sort me out.
Cheers

That's that, they came to a single tank / single pump design, and it works
the way you tell.
I've gone to such a similar problem with my 205, and at first I though of a
pump problem, ordered one @ GSF's, and finally... It was a dirty commodo
contact. I gave it a couple of WD40 squirts (or any other electric cleaner
spray) and it did the trick.

Sounds good and interesting.
Not having come across the term before chucked 'commodo contact' at Google.
Interesting results but none relevant!
So please enlighten me as to what it is and where to find it.

Hi,

Sorry, I meant stalk. In France it's commonly called "commodo", and I may
have thought too much about this when I dropped these lines, and so came the
mistake Wink

Thanks for the explanation.
As you will have seen it was actually a lot simpler than using WD40!
Is there a way of injecting it into a brain?
Mine seems to have gone rusty!

Yeah, sometimes the problem is between the wheel and the seat Smile

Errr BTW, I had a look to my 206 this morning (as every morning, indeed) and
had a look to the stalk, that's damn easy, it has two arrows on it, telling
it has to be pulled. Tell your wife that, if it had to be turned, then the
symbol would face her when active (like the lights control, for example) Smile

It was easier than WD40 this time... But if you have to change your wife,
then it won't be cheaper Wink

As Counsel for the defence:-
The 206 is on an S plate in case that makes a difference.
The markings on the stalk show a double ended arrow for the wipers.
That indicates that you move it up or down which amounts to a rotation about
the steering column axis.
The symbol for the washer is the same except it has only one arrow head.
That arrow points in the same direction as the clockwise rotation for the
wipers.
So an idiot like me looking for the washers sees the washer symbol and moves
the stalk as directed by the arrow.
Takes a genius to realise that this time the symbol means something
different!
When you use it frequently it becomes automatic to get it right every time.

The information here is useful but I guess we all enjoy the banter too!
