2007 Nissan Frontier XE th-thud

Under warranty HI HO HI HO off to the dealer we go!
Take it back to the dealer and request that the Tech, ride with you so you
can show him the problem. If you do it any other way you will get a NFF (no
frigging fix). Those are my thoughts.

You feel a lurch backwards? At all stops, or just on an uphill stop?
If the latter, could it be the hill hold feature?

Well, if you don't make an extremely slow stop, any car will have a slight
lurch backwards. That's the lurch I was talking about and when it happens.

I had that thud on the turn or hitting a bump on the 2004 Frontier and turn
out to be front end tie rod was bad.

So, does this sound like a tranny issue? I'm just trying to be equipped with
some knowledge before I call the dealer.

joint noise.

So, by putting the truck in neutral before I stop, and then not feeling the
th-thud, would that still be indicitive of universal joint noise?

I always feel it when starting from a stop.

A very similar problem has been reported by Tacoma owners.
There is a discussion at the following URL: (Note when pasting the URL, there
should be no breaks). Two theories are 1) weak rear springs allowing the rear
axel assembly to twist under load, then unload with a thud when coming to a
stop. The second is a poorly lubricated slip joint in the drive line going to
the rear axel. Again, a thud is felt on stopping when the joint slips back
into the correct position. Most feel this is an annoyance, not indicative of a
serious problem. Your dealer can tell you if your truck has a slip joint. Some
don't.
