I have said this before....will say it again.....
Read ALL the posts in here about Subaru, the problems with NEW Subaru's.
Read about the transmissions on 2005's going bad, read all about the blown
headgaskets on the 2.5's
Read....Read...read.
DO NOT TAKE ***MY*** word for it, listen to the ones that are bitching about
their cars failing and how Subaru won't
stand behind the product.
In some instances Subaru DOES stand behind it, but if you like coming home
on the hook....get the Subaru.
If you don't care about resale, Get the Subaru.
If you like oil, fuel, rainwater leaks, by all means get the Subaru.
I *AM* biased, I hate the shitty little pieces of shit, because they give
the Japanese Auto Industry a big black eye, and the company shafts it's
customers.
If your short sighted and need a car that IS pretty quick (300HP in a
crackerbox) get the Subaru.
If you like thin sheetmetal with crappy cheap paint, love the look of
doordings and paint chips get the Subaru.
If you really want a class act, long lived, decent performance, good resale
and a company that stands behind it's product, buy the Acura (Honda).

Also remember that most product forums are primarily about problems. People
are in forums to get solutions to their problems.
Subaru ranks very high in recent consumer quality surveys. >> Stay informed about: Looking for a new 2005 Subaru Impreaz WRX |

As you see Dr. really hates subarus. I would say goto www.i-club.com and
read the post in their fourms and you will get alot of info. I have had my
car since feb '04. I have a WRX wagon and it's a blast and no problems so
far. If you are looking for perfomance it beats the Acura by a large
margin. You do'nt have to drive it like you hate it to get it to run like
the Acura. If that kind of stuff does'nt matter Maybe you would like the
Acura more. The turbo on the WRX is water cool and is made circulate the
water around the turbo after you turn of the can so there is no need for a
turbo timer or having to sit at idle and let the turbo cool down. Hope that
helps.

here my 2 cents, 3 year ago i crash An Acura 1.6 EL at around 70 KMH Bumper
hit first and then the car flip on the top. The front bumper was smash on
the engine and the car was at least 1 feet shorter. The rear of the engine
was smash in the firewall. The air bag never deployd......I been lucky to
fall inconscious when the car flip over and i had nothing except a few
stiches on a hand and a small cut near the eyebrown ( thanks god to tint
windows) I was wearing my seat belt .....
All this to say the Airbag Never deployd...... I been thinking about legal
procedure against Acura but my loyer said i had no chance since i had no
injury.
I know the ABC of air bag deployement and the Airbag should have deployd in
this front crash.
The insurance Cie have paid a mechanic to investigate if the Airbag was
installed in the car and proprelly connected after the crash .The asnwer was
yes Installed and was ready for deployement.
Anyway i have since never bought and will ever think about buying Honda /
Acura or any small everyday car.
i have since the accident bought a Jeep GC and now my OBW and feel very
safe.
My 2 cents

Rasty, naff off!
For real info on maintenance issues, reliablity skid pad numbers or whatever
you need to sort out the issues important to you go to the sources that are
not industry connected. But please disregard Dr F... because he has never
even owned a subaru. Maybe he's a disgruntled employee or something.
As for me, I bought a 2004 Forester based on Consumers Reports, Phil
Edmunstons Lemon aid guide and Highway safety statistics etc. This is my
third Subaru
1st one was 1986 GL Wagon (bought new only just sold it still running fine)
2nd a 1990 Legacy Li Wagon, bought in 2000, still have it, runs great.
Also check out the Acura groups, there are many issues that come up in that
group, including water leaks, CV joints, trim, engine management etc.

I have owned Honda, Nissan, Mazda, BMW and other cars in my 40 years of driving.
In 1998 I bought a Legacy GT wagon, and in 2002 I got one of the first WRX
wagons to hit the US. I've been very pleased with my Subarus, and after 7 years
of trouble free driving, I may get another. I do not have much brand loyalty,
I'll buy whatever best meets my desires for practicality and fun driving,
meaning usually a wagon or hatchback with AWD or RWD and great handling. If BMW
puts the 3 liter engine in the new 3 series wagon, I may go that way for my next
vehicle, or the new 2.5 liter 2006 WRX or Legacy GT wagon are on my list as
possibilities.
But from what I know the WRX is amazingly well put together, and will last a
LONG time with normal care. And it's SO well made it can even survive what some
of the kids do in getting huge power and competitive driving.

Thanks everyone for all your input.
I purchased 2 new Acura GSRs a year or two before the RSX came out so I
anticipate the Type S would be similar in reliability which is very good. I
test drove the WRX the other day and its a fine car. Either the Type S or
the WRX would do. If the local WRX dealer is ok with warranty work I would
go with it as I have a shitty local Acura dealer. >> Stay informed about: Looking for a new 2005 Subaru Impreaz WRX |
