As Ph@Boy mentioned, it is difficult to diagnose noises and vibrations
without experiencing them first hand.
Heat shields are a common source of noise, but it is generally not a good
idea to remove them. I doubt if the dealer removed a heat shield, more
likely, they tried to secure it somehow. Take it back so that they can hear
it first hand.
My guess is that it is a heat shield for the catalytic converter or the
noise is coming from the flex pipe.
