Hi, I recently bought a brand new 2004 BMW 525i. The winter mats that I
bought- from the dealership- keep moving very close and at times on the
gas pedal. I am very dissapointed with these mats- they have nearly
caused me to have an accident! Has anyone else experienced these
problems? They are black and say BMW on them, Ill check for a brand
name- I believe they are manufactured by BMW

The regular mats on my 01 525 have the locator thingee's that lock the
mats in place. Are these similarly equipped?

The instructions said to use Windows 98 or better, so I installed RedHat.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

winter mats come with squares that lock in where the carpet locks would but
have velcro on top
to grap the underside of the winter mat.

make sure these are installed and your mat will not budge.

Thanks for all that replied to my question. Just to make myself more
clear, the mats I have a winter rubber mats. THe name is Canon/Macneil-
made in the UK. I noticed that there is nothing like velcro underneath
nor a snap of any sort. The cloth rug mat underneath has velcro, but
the winter/rubber mats just fall ontop and continually move near the
gas pedal.
Thanks

Hmmm. I have the preceding E39 540i model and have both the regular
carpet mats and the BMW Winter mats. In the E39, you cannot use both
mats at the same time. Rather, the carpeted mats have to be removed
first and the rubber mats put in their place. They each are locked
down by large plastic pin-like fasteners that penetrate holes at the
corners and twist lock into place to the floor in the front foot well
areas. They don't move at all - they are like glued to the floor.

Remove all your mats and see if there are any places for fasteners in
the foot wells. If there are such places on the floor but no
corresponding fasteners on your mats then the mats won't work properly
and are likely not right for your car. Unless they fasten to the floor
they all move around, especially if they sit on top of another mat.

Be careful with metal clamps if they can rust. The oxidative process
from the metal may start a corrosion problem on the floorpan. Given
the salty slush we drag into our cars in snow country, that is a
distinct possibility. The BMW pins I mention are all-plastic and the
locking system is very neat and tidy.

Thanks for all the replies. I contacted weathertech who looked up the
mat via the model # on the mat, they indicated that I should contact
the dealer as they were supposed to give me a clamp to lock the mats
down. The mat is original BMW equipment. Error on the BMW dealership.
Thanks again everyone
