Looking for a little advice. I have a 2003 Sable with a 3.0L. It has 170,000 miles. It has started overheating. I have changed the thermostat, replaced the water pump and it's belt. The sensor seems to be working OK and the engine is getting hot. The fans come on with the air conditioner but shut off with the engine. I think they should continue running after the engine is shut down and something may be wrong there but even with them running, it overheats. The coolant looked new. I ran the heater to try and cool the engine and noticed that it puts out no heat. Please help point me in the right direction. Could the heater core be blocked and preventing coolant flow? Could the radiator be plugged? How do I check these? Or, am I heading down the wrong road. So far I have done the work myself but I'm running out of ideas.
Thank in advance.
