Has anyone had this problem? If you try umpteen times it might shift into reverse once. Is it the tranny or some kind of linkage deal?

My car does the same thing. I also have a problem with first gear sometimes as well. I haven't had it looked at but I think its just another design flaw on Dodge's part. Seeing as it seems to be on the opposite ends of each other it might just have something to do with the actual gear box and how tightly it is made. I don't think there is really anything you can do to fix it. I find if I let the car roll a couple inches then try again the car usually goes into gear.

Well I dug deeper and found my shift cable was broken where it connects to the shift lever on the trans. It has a plastic bushing that was broken so when I tried to put it in reverse it did not pull the lever back far enough to make the shift. The other cable was broken too but was still able to move the lever. Its a dealer only part so I paid $165.00 for it and with someones help we had it replaced in 30-45 minutes. Dodge wanted $500.00 to replace and have it ready for me in two days. But I'm "on the road again" so I am happy Very Happy
