Any a/c guru's out there?
My 2002 Olds Intrigue quit blowing cold air last week. It just got
progessivly warmer over a day or two but now there is no cold air.
All blower settings and modes are working ok. Fan speed and heater work ok
as well as defrost but no cold air.
I borrowed a friends manifold guage set and hooked it up. Static pressures
both sides are ok. (100# each side and balanced. When I start it up and turn
on the air the low side press skyrockets to 125psi (norm is 40-51) and high
side goes up to approx 175 which is a bit below normal.
Ambient temp 90F 55% RH.
None of the lines feel cool to the touch. All are warm to hot. No moisture
condensing on any lines or other components.
Condensor fan is running ok and I set a large shop fan in front of car to
help cooling. (it blows a lot of air) but had no effect.
No sight glass...V-7 compressor. Clutch is turning and belt is tight. No
slippage. Compressor does not "cycle". "Slight" load on engine when comp
turns on and engine increases speed slightly when it does so (normal).
I'm suspecting compressor unit is bad (Check or "reed" valve defective) but
I'm not too familiar with this particular unit.
If anyone might offer input on what the problem could be it would be very
much appreciated.
Thank you for your time
