In the five years that I have had my Oldsmobile Alero, I've experienced many
problems with it. For a while now, the security light has been coming on,
but it would only stay on for a short period and then go off. The security
light then started coming on for longer periods of time. Twice now, I have
been unable to start the car because of this security light. The first time
the car wouldn't start, I had no idea what was wrong with it and why it
wouldn't start. It was not until I started searching the internet for the
security light on the Alero, that I found the solution for reseting the
security feature.

Here are the questions that I have. Why after five years does this security
feature just randomly start failing resulting in the car not being able to
start? Is there perhaps a fuse that could be removed to simply disable this?
I would like to avoid having to take it to a dealer to get repaired if at
all possible. It just seems like lately my car has been in the repair shop
just about every month for one problem or another.
