ok, I hope someone can help me! The cars has 120,000 miles on it, no problems.....until this afternoon, I took a left and all of a sudden it wouldn't come out of 1st gear, then the engine light went on. I start it and put it in drive and it turns off, if I do this a few times, maybe by the 5th time it will stay on. The transmission fliud does not smell burned ( saw something about that online) Could it be an oxegen sensor(sp)?? If so, how much do you think this repair will be???
I don't really hate cars, but I am so frustrated! My hubby is away on business and it feels like these things always happen at the WORST time!!!!

i got a 99 and had a very similar problem i only had 2nd and reverse, it turned out to be the high speed shift solinoid(located under the bettery on my 99...a wire hooked to it and screws into the transmission) Bought a new one..unplug the wire, unscrew it...screw in the new one , replace the wire and problem was solved, about a yr later same thing happened to my dodge stratus. i replaced it the same way and fixed it also...hope this helps...
