I recently purchased a 2000 olds intrique from a Honda dealership. I've
been having a recurring problem that they have been unable to rectify
since they are unfamiliar with GM cars. Approximately every two to three
weeks when I turn off the car for only a short trip, it will not restart.
All of the lights go on, but absolutely no sound when I turn the ignition
key. After approximately 15 minutes, it starts right up like nothing was
wrong at all. The dealership has been unable to recreate the problem and
have sent it to a GM dealer who couldn't find anything wrong with it.
It's continued for a couple of months, so they put in a new starter. Two
days later, the same thing happened. They now want to put in an ignition
switch as a process of elimination. If anyone has had this problem, I
would greatly appreciate the assistance.

Does the security lite on the dash stay on when this happens?

it may be an ignition switch, the most i found they cost on http://www.napaonline.com is $32.49 but i dont know if it will work on your car. when i put in the info. (year, make, model) it brought up a list of ignition switches that should work with your car. the switch in my achieva was fairly easy to change. the hardest part was getting the screws from behind the stearing wheel

I had this problem and it turned out to be the battery... You could try and
get a load test on the battery. If many of the cells in the battery are
shorted by particulate, but some work, you still get 12 volts, but not
enough amps to start the engine. Sometimes banging on the battery will
shake the particulate short loose and allow you to start the car.
