Post subject: 2000 Neon engine

The engine on my 2000 Neon needs to be replaced. Originally thought the timing belt was the problem, but 2/4 of the cylinders not getting compression. (I think that's the term he used)
The garage gave me a quote of $2000 using a used engine. Is it worth putting the money into or should I let it die in peace?

Never mind. I called around and was able to find a used engine & someone who will fix it for much cheaper. Once it's fixed, it should keep going long enough for my purposes.
