Post subject: 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE

I have a 2000 Grand Am SE and the security light is coming on while I am driving, when I stop the car (for gas or what ever) the security light blinks and my car will not turn over. I have to wait about 10 min for the security light to stop blinking and then my car starts right up. Does anyone know what would be causing this or how I can fix it? I don't ever set the alarm system so could I turn it off or will this cause more problems?
