Well, I've got about 700 miles on it, and over all its a pretty darn nice
truck, towing AND trailering package not including a trailer receptacle not
withstanding.
Drives like a dream. Flip it to 4 high on a dirt road and it handles the
curves almost like its on pavement. Not why I wanted a 4wd, but definitely
a nice plus.
First fill up at the pump was a bit disappointing at just over 12 MPG, but
amazingly the second fillup jumped quite a bit to a little over 14. That
included about 90 miles of pulling a 3800 pound boat and trailer.
I launched and loaded the boat on the dirt between the ramps at Fisher's due
to low water conditions, and it handled it just fine. Never spun a tire.
THAT was why I wanted 4wd. It's just enough. In fact I think I'll be able
to stick with the stock tires indefinitely.
The factory CD/MP3 stereo is one of the best I have heard in a new vehicle.
I hear sounds in music I was never able to hear in anything but a custom car
stereo before. I haven't played with the On-Star, but I imagine it works
pretty much like the On-Star in the Avalanche we just sold.
There is one little annoyance though, and its not very consistant. I hear
an r r r r r r r r r r r sound every once in a while. Lasts for about 1-4
seconds and then stops. Sounds almost like a motor and pump kicking on and
off for a couple seconds. If it was a motorhome I'ld think it might be an
autoleveling motor. I've usually only noticed it cruising at steady speeds,
but I did notice it once backing up at a slow speed. Its not very loud. In
fact the first couple times I heard it I wasn't sure it wasn't just some
kind of road noise. I know. I know. Brand new truck, just take it to the
dealer, but I also know its almost impossible to get a mechanic (at least
here) to ever duplicate an intermittant noise. If I could figure out what
it is then I could tell them what to check. I have had much better luck
getting things fixed that way.
