The smelling of fuel is an important clue.
On my 97 4.3L there is a fuel pressure regulator under the intake
plennum. The diaghrphram ruptured and I could smell fuel, truck would
run rough but restart. While this is not common, it does happen. They
were able to fund it with a pressure tester. The repair was as I
recall several hundred. But this is only a guess. >> Stay informed about: 1998 chevy blazer acting loopy |

Actually it is sadly common to have a failure of the CFI "spider", and
it is a bit expensive to replace. >> Stay informed about: 1998 chevy blazer acting loopy |

I have a 95 Blazer, the same thing happened. I replaced the spider/reg., still had a problem. I replaced the egr valve and that fixed it.
It happened again this summer, and again I replaced the egr and that fixed the problemagain. Get a NEW egr not a used one, ebay is a good place to find one. It is fairly easy to replace. Buy the valve and look for it on the engine. >> Stay informed about: 1998 chevy blazer acting loopy |
