1997 C1500 4.3 has high idle and transmission not shifting

Post subject: 1997 C1500 4.3 has high idle and transmission not shifting

My truck had the MIL light come on and I had my neighbor run a scan.

The DTC were 0121 and 0122, which is related to the TPS.

I did a tune up new plugs, wires, TPS, IAC, MAP and cleaned the MAS.
Cleared the codes but still have the high idle and transmission not
shifting and the MIL code for the TPS 0121.

When the MIL came on the truck started running ruff and not wanting to
down shift from 3rd to 2nd or 1st. I could manually shift into 2nd but
the truck will not down shift into 1st. This is an automatic
transmission and would hesitate coming off the line. The tune up has
the engine running much smoother, but still has the MIL on for the
TPS. Further diagnose is pointing to the PCM, has anyone had any
experience with this? The next step we are looking at is using the
scanner to control the transmission on a road test. I would like any
opinions about next steps or solutions.

Run a check on the actual wiring and if your neighbors tool will read it
see what the TPS is actually showing for motion and voltage. Sounds like
either a ground problem or a bad connector.

Steve,
Went through the TPS, IAC and MAP diagnostics and the range and
voltage checkout fine.
We are going to check the temperature sender and the ground today,
have a friend that has a shop and will be taking to him if these do
not work. Going to try disconnecting the battery and see if the
computer will reset.
