I have a 1996 Honda Civic and it has run perfectly for a good wee while, but for some reason the drivers window won't budge, when the button is pushed i dont even get a faint sound or anything else comin from in the door, i have checked all the cables and there all intact. It was a gradual failure..
« =============================== Be glad you don't own a VW . . You should see all the window problems over at their NG. 'Curly' »
« Yea, sounds like the gear/regulator, etc bound up. But like they say, I'd run all the usual tests to the motor, etc.. I'm having trouble with the drivers side window on my accord. But it's the contr.. »
« The only ones I've dealt with (93 Accord and 94 Integra) were bad gears in the regulator - the part that includes the motor and all the mechanics to raise or lower the window. That is best checked.. »

The headlights on my 1996 Honda Civic Dx flicker when I rev the engine. The speedometer also moves wildly like there is some ghost in the machine. My mechanic checked the system with his little diagnostic computer and said the code went over 1000. He felt not qualified to work on this situation an..
« Let me guess - the alternator was an aftermarket rebuilt. The symptoms point to the alternator with big flashing arrows. If it is anything else I'd be amazed. Mike »
« That was my guess, also. Interesting things about Hondas; the Speedo acts like a 'voltmeter' when the electrical system has problems. I would take a good look at the regulator (or just take it back) »
« Bet there's an aftermarket radio instal in the mix too. bob »
« This was going-on before the new battery and alternator were installed. What else do you think it could be? Thanks, Craig »

Re: 1996 Honda Civic, 238K Km Two days ago I've noticed smoke coming out of the hood near the coolant reservoir. At first I thought it is because of the cold winter (its below freezing temperature in Ontario). Then I smell something different and pulled over. I found the coolant reservoir near em..
« All the evidence is, as you suspect, that something failed in the cooling system and you have a bad leak. Repairing this could be cheap (like a new hose) or expensive (like a head gasket). But si.. »
« Thanks Elle Yes, there has been no other noise from the engine or anywhere. Vehicle has been maintained (oil changed) at Honda dealership for the last 2 years. In July this year, the mechanic sugges.. »
« Wait, are you saying your mechanic did in fact change the coolant recently? Wager there's a connection then. Hopefully just an honest mistake. Preferably to no great detriment to anyone.

« No, the mechanic did said to change the coolant in this Winter. It has not been changed. But now that the coolant is empty, it needs to be changed/filled. Ya, I booked an appointment for tomorrow to.. »

Tpok my Honda in, had expansion valve replaced. Vehicle cools if driving on freeway. In town, stop and go, or stop at a drive-thru and the air starts blowing warmer. Never blows under 60 degree air. Repair shop is stumped. Blower motor, fan, and relay switch working. Any ideas??
« Well, if your model SHOULD blow colder, then there's a problem. A/C systems are not that complicated. The gas is compressed to a high pressure, heating it. It then passes through the condensor (fr.. »
« bad condenser fan motor. Chip »
« OK, repair shop went through compressor and replaced expansion valve a second time. Replaced condenser---still blows 50 degrees on the freeway, but stop at signals and it starts blowing hot air...g.. »
« When you are speeding along the freeway, the car's natural forward motion is enough to drive air through the condenser coil to cool it off. When you are stopped or going slow, the air conditioner re.. »
