Hi,

I have a Safari van and recently the rear hatch (Dutch Door style)
won't open whether I use the hood release in the front, or the lock
in the rear hatch itself.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this, or get the
hatch to open? Aside from the convenience of being able to open my
rear door again, I really need to access my right rear taillight and
replace a light bulb. Sad

Thanks in advance.

Okay, I figured out how to get the hatch open. I loosened the trim
around the rear window (couldn't completely remove it as some of the
screws are only accessible when hatch is open) and removed the hatch
handle. Then it was a simple matter of reaching in and working the
lever for the latch and open the hatch.

Now I have to figure out why it doesn't open when using the switch,
or the lock in the hatch. When I try to use the switch I hear the
relay over the the rear right fender make a slight noise, but there
is no corresponding click from the lock. What sort of sound should
I be hearing from that relay? Are there any fusible links between
the relay and the door lock? Any other ideas that anyone can think
of?
