Not the original owner of this car. Has 62,000 carfax certified miles and
the the blower control module went out a few weeks ago.(fan stayed on with
key off) Got a new one from an online retailer and the fan is ok now.
A few days later the 2 a/c vents on the drivers door, the 2 in the middle of
the dash and the one at the rear of the console just blow air but the 4 dash
vents on the passerger side blow cool air, somewhat enough coolness comes
out to make a 90 degree day just bearable.
While driving I feel like the A/C compressor is kicking in and out quite too
often as it feels almost like an engine miss at steady speeds.
Does the thing need a recharge?

If the compressor is cycling on and off rapidly, it probably does need a
charge.

Thee is a low pressure switch that shuts off the compressor is the charge is
too low. Sounds like you may be on the edge. A trip to the local shop will
determine that for sure when the gauges are put on.

Yeah, I will make the trip to the shop in the morning. I looked at these do
it yourself refill kits and from what I can see it seems a shop can do it
close to the same price. Thanks.

Update:
Went to a shop and the charge was OK. They said problem is some diverter
door is stuck as the passenger vents are blowing at 45 degrees but the
others are not.
He said the climate control device will have to come out for him to see if
it is controlling what it should. I am not sure about this as it will switch
the different modes.
It must be a stuck door that opens to allow cool air through all the vents
not just the passenger side.
Anyway, worst case he said if that contol needed to be replaced, maybe $1500
parts and labor.

Been there. Suspect your system looks similar..

Sometimes you can loosen up the divertor door pivots with a little
spray lubricant, but the problem doesnt necessarily stop there.

There is in some of those systems a vacuum module which can go bad and
that sucker is in the range of $500, give or take. You might be able to
find a
good one in a junkyard to try, if it has been out of the weather. They are
not
sealed, IIRC.

Check all those damn little vacuum tubes for leakages too....if you want to
do it
yourself.

out when I was looking for a vacuum connection bit didn't see anything and
the service man said it was all electric???

Maybe yours is all electric. I am not sure about all the GM variations.

The ones with the vacuum modulator I am talking about are the dual system
ones.
Access to them is via the glove box.

Do you have a good sized vacuum cannister under the hood?

If yours turns out to be electric, pardon my bad advice.

I took the glove box out again and see no kind of rod anywhere. Behind the
glove box is the ECM (I think) somewhat where the toe kick is. Directly
behind the glove box is a huge metal box with 3 large harness conectors.
Next to this box to the left is part of the a/c plastic housing and I do see
some kind of electricial device mounted on the side of the housing. There is
like a plastic roll pin looking thing or like a piece of PVC pipe that goes
between this device and the housing. I guess it looks more or less like a
bushing. I put a mark on that shaft and then cycled the a/c through all the
functions and it didn't rotate. Don't know if this is indeed a door sw or
not. Can't get to it with my fingers or a pair of pliers.
No kind of vacuum can under the hood and find no vacuum hoses to the
firewall.
