Post subject: 1993 325is Manual Trans

My mechanic just told me thta I need new sych mech in my manual trrans. Is
this a common repair? Are there after market pasrts for this? BMW wants
$600 each.

But BMW boxes also have synchromesh on reverse...

Well there you go Dave! I suppose it's all the 18 and 20 year old
drivers/owners that think they are Tiff Needel showing how to do a power slide
need synchro on reverse or is it that there are so many auto drivers that they
might forget to dip the clutch when going into Reverse.

It's not very common unless you have been forcing the shifter a lot, or
have not been changing the transmission fluid on schedule.

How bad does the shifter feel now? Is it drivable? Are the synchros
sticking or not engaging at all?

My sister managed to total a car driving in reverse at high speed in a
parking lot. And yes, she was in that age range at the time.

1993 325IS ( E36) - Hey there! quick Question, I lost the three lower speeds on my blower motor, in turn I replaced the blower motor resister and with in 1 day the resister died again, any suggestions?

just got a 325is - anybody have any words of wisdom and/or experience?

bmw 325is - im lookin to but this 1993 bmw 325is and it needs minor things. he wants it gone only for 1000. but the only problem is it wont start he says the gas really wont reach the engine and hes replaced the fuel pump could it be that the gas tank is really dirt...
