1992 Toyota Celica 180,000 miles Is it normal to have to replace the MANUAL transmission at this mileage? What all is involved in a manual transmission replacement? thanks for any help and comments!!......really. Bill V.
« Generally not the whole transmission, no. Synchros and other wear items by need replacement, but the case and shafts should be alright if the unit was maintained and not abused. What is the concern .. »
« It is my daughters car. It has been hard to get it to go into gear...in fact she said one night it simply wouldn't go in gear but later it would. Also sometimes it, she says, will slip while driving.. »
« Sounds like the clutch is going. If not, then probably the synchros. Chances are she's been really hard on the clutch... young women tend to treat clutches really really bad. »

My battery only stays charged for three days before it dies. This is the third battery I have gone through in a matter of months. What could possibly cause this to keep happening?
« Bad alternator, bad voltage regulator, cheap battteries, poor battery connections or ground, or high parasitic draw. -- Ray O (correct punctuation to reply) »

« If the problem actually was not there before the shop changed the water pump and timing belt, it is possible that one or both camshaft timing is off by a tooth. Check ignition base timing. If it.. »

What could be the cause of this??Where would the fuse be located? If it is not the fuse, how could I correct this problem?
« That is about the time when speedometers were changing from mechanical speedometers to electronic speedometers, so I do not know which type you have. Does the odometer still work? If it is a mech.. »

Hello. I could really use some help. I lost power and the car wouldn't start. I checked the computer and the only error code was the vacuum sensor. If I unplug the vacuum sensor on the firewall, the engine will at least start but not rev past 1,200 RPM. I now have a new $360 dollar Toyota sen..

« With the converter off, it runs a little better - RPM increased from 1,000 to 1,200. I'm getting ready to put a replacement exhaust on right now to see if lack of backpressure is causing any issues.. »
« I've never run across that problem, but I would imagine that an obstruction in the exhaust could cause it, along with a valve train problem like a stuck valve or incorrect valve timing. -- Ray O .. »
