Post subject: 1991 blazer 4.3 overheating

I have a 1991 4.3 blazer, the water pump starting leaking so I replaced it and all new hoses and thermostat. Started it up keeps overheating, put 2 new thermostats in but keeps overheating quickly especially when resistance on motor. Checked oil no water or coolent. pulled thermostat again ran it without thermostat and there is no problem other than no heat stays at 100. everytime i put a thermostat is it overheats? Any ideas? I also flushed system and burped it for an hour or so. I am lost!
