Has anyone any idea on the correct way to measure the oil level?
After a five mile drive when I check the tranny oil level there is no oil
showing on the dipstick(checked while engine still running).
Wait 5 minutes and it shows above full with engine off. It also shows above
full with engine running again and after going through the gears.
Any idea what's happening?
Thanks

Assuming you're talking about an auto you need to refer to the handbook as
some are checked hot, others cold, and this makes a difference to the
shown level. (The fluid expands with heat)

Hi Dave, the handbook just refers you to the BMW dealer - hence the question
on the NG.
