1987 Ford Tempo Squeals

Hi - I currently own a nice little Ford Tempo which has been giving me a few problems latley. The past few days, when i start my car and press on the gas, i get this high-pitched squeal and sometimes my car will stall and die on me in the middle of the street. It recently had a module (whatever that is lol) replaced and a couple days ago i tried to start it and it died. I recharged the battery and have left it since. Does the squealing sound mean that there's belts to be replaced? Or is there something more serious going on?

Oh and just to add it's a standard if that makes any difference
